The Giver

This story is about a boy named Jonas who is picked to be the new Receiver of Memory. The world he lives in has lots of rules, for example, when you turn twelve you are given a job that you will have for life. The people that live in this world can’t see colours, and can’t feel emotions. The Receiver of Memory is the only person who can remember these things. When people need help they ask him for advice.
The Giver is the old Receiver of Memory and is training Jonas to replace him. The main problem is that after Jonas receives the memories he thinks that they are wonderful and that every one should have them.
The climax of the story happens when Jonas runs away from the community with a baby that is going to get killed. The baby that he is running away with is called Gabriel. The reason why Gabriel is going to get killed is that he is not growing properly and he will have to be released, which means getting killed.
I didn’t really like the story because when Jonas ran away it did not solve the problem. Another thing about the book that I didn’t like was that it was written differently than other books I have read. It was very hard to figure out what the main problem in the story was, and so I had to read parts of the story over again
