"But I never sleep without saying the prayer, never forget, even in dreams, what I am to be (Haskins)."This is a line form a poem by Lola Haskins that mimics the growth of a bird.It speaks of the way a baby bird progresses to become what it is destined to be just as we human beings progress within our society.This also spills over into the movie, " The Matrix," starring Keanu Reeves and Lawrence Fishburn.In the movie, an amateur computer hacker, named Neo, taps into the reality that he is the prophesized one that is to battle "agents" who imprison society.He meets a man named Morpheus who teaches him that everything he believes is real isn't real and how to battle the "agents" in the real world.Throughout the movie, as in the "Employment" poem, Neo reaches obstacles to becoming the person he knows he is destined to be but he continues to work towards it.
In the movie "The Matrix," the main character Neo, continues to work his hardest everyday towards what he knows he is to become.As in the "Employment" poem, Lola Haskins writes, "I am doing the best I can. I know the fine hairs that grow along my arms are not feathers yet."This is evident in the scene where Neo is learning to fight and Morpheus continues to beat him up.Neo keeps getting up and trying harder because he know deep down that he will one day move faster than Morpheus.Another instance of this is the way Neo so boldly heads into the suicide mission of rescuing Morpheus form the "agents" who have captured him.Neo know subconsciously that he is the chosen one who will be able to fight and defeat "agents."And as soon as he admits this to himself, he is able to save Morpheus and kill the "agents."This illustrates that just like us non-fictitious characters of the world, the character Neo in the movie, knows what he…
