The Patriot

I watched the movie, "The Patriot," starring Mel Gibson as a historically dramatic movie. In "The Patriot", Mel Gibson plays the role of a man named Benjamin Martin. Benjamin Martin was known as a hero to his people because of his actions during the French and Indian War. During the French and Indian War, Benjamin Martin's friends were massacred because of the French and Indians. When his army gathers the French and Indians at Fort Wilderness, he shows no compassion towards them and kills them gradually. He then sends the body parts of those people back to their respective people, terminating the Indian treaty with the French.
In the movie, Benjamin's son, Gabriel Martin, enrolls in the colonial army to fight for their independence against Britain, in opposition to his father's will. As the warfare grows closer to their residence in South Carolina, Gabriel returns home after being wounded. However, after harboring English and American solders after the fighting, Colonel William Tavington comes by the house and commands the killing of all the soldiers, including Gabriel Martin for initiating this safe house operation. To make matters worse, Benjamin's younger son, Thomas Martin, was shot by Tavington for trying to save his elder brother, Gabriel. After rescuing Gabriel, Benjamin enlists in the army with Gabriel in order to overcome the English and get vengeance for his deceased son. Benjamin only gets his payback by killing Tavington after his other son Gabriel is killed towards the end of American Revolution.
This movie explained the American Revolution fairly well; however, there are some flaws to this movie. This movie provided examples of the type of warfare that the people during that time used, arranged themselves in lines, and shooting across.
