To kill a Mockingbird

"Shoot all the blue jays you wont, if you can hit'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird," said Atticus in To Kill a Mockingbird. The mockingbird is a big symbol in this novel. There are many characters in the novel that are mockingbirds: Scout and Jem's father, Atticus, Tom Robinson, and Boo Radley.
Most of all, the one person that truly resembles a mockingbird is Atticus. Atticus was a mockingbird in his community because he gave to the church and to its people. Atticus was doing his best in raising his two children. He helped Miss. Maudie when her house caught on fire. Also, he helps everyone else in Maycomb when he can. Atticus was also defending a black man named Tom Robinson in court and he tried his best. While trying to defend Tom, people in the community were threatening him and even trying to hurt him. He stood up to all the people and still did his best to give to his community. Atticus was a mockingbird in his community.
Secondly, Tom Robinson is being accused of raping and beating Mayella Ewell. Actually, Tom could not have done the crime as he has only one good arm, he was trying to help Mayella do things around her house as he did everyday on his way home from work. He felt sorry for her because she seemed to be the only one in her house that ever tried to do anything. Tom was also a very peaceful man. He attended the black church every Sunday. Then at the end of the story the white man killed Tom as he tried to escape because he was sent to a farm prison when convicted of raping and beating Mayella.
Lastly, Boo Radley was a secret and misunderstood mockingbird. Boo cared for Scout and Jem. Even though Jem, Scout and Dill thought bad things about him and acted out what he had supposedly done in the past he helped them out any way he could with out being noticed.
